Cherry Chia Pot

Cherries are fantastic to ease the symptoms of gout. While we know gout to be associated with a painful buildup of uric acid, which effects the joints, it also has roots in inflammation. An anti-inflammatory diet is important to help manage these symptoms alongside some superfood ingredients like cherries, which can help minimise flare ups.

I am lucky enough to live in the garden of England, KENT, and in the summer our cherries are second to none, but much of the year I resort to frozen. (I am considering adopting a cherry tree in fact, so I can harvest my own cherries and freeze as many as I will need to get me through the winter).

As well as stirred through this tasty chia pot, you can simply enjoy your cherry smoothie as a drink on its own

Ingredients

1 cup of frozen cherries

1 banana

1/2 tbsp of plant based protein powder

2 tbsp coconut yogurt

1 cup coconut milk

1 tbsp of chia seeds

(Serves 2)

Method

First you want to make your small smoothie by blending all the ingredients except the cherries toghether in your blender. Next stir this delicious smoothie over the chia seeds and leave to allow the seeds to expand. To serve you can put a few cherries on top. Cherries are also lovely mixed with a few coconut shards.

Anti-inflammatory, blood sugar balancing and cholesterol lowering cherries are a beneficial addition to the diversity of plants in your diet.

I aim for 1-2 servings of fruit per day (with 5-7) different varieties of vegetables. So be sure to mix up the fruits you are enjoying. These cherries are prepared from frozen (found on Essential Waitrose).
